Anyone who has ever experience a fear of flying may be surprised to learn that in some Cases it is secondary to an actual fear of travel! The latter is not a term that is commonly found in the textbooks speaking of phobias and disorders, and generally you may find Components relating to the fear of travel in such tomes - namely Agoraphobia, Claustrophobia, Xenophobia, Aviophobia, and a host of other fears and anxiety producing disorder - but an honest to goodness definition cannot be found.
Experiencing the fear of travel is normal and if in your heart of hearts you have had to grapple with it, do not believe for a moment that you are alone! Instead, revel in the fact that there are others like you who - almost immediately upon planning or announcing a much anticipated trip to an exotic locale or even one closer to home - suffer from troublesome self-doubts. Second guessing why they chose the one destination over another, leaving their home state rather than traveling stateside, worrying about the food that might aggravate gastrointestinal health issues currently being experienced, and finally in light of an impending airline flight experience the gambit of anxiety, panic and fear is not alien to such reluctant travelers with a fear of travel.
As a matter of fact, you will find that the fear of travel will make the anticipation of the trip less like a savoring of the times spent in an exotic locale and more like an emotional roller coaster that makes awaiting your child's birth or impending nuptials seem like child's play! A fear of travel, a fear of change, a fear of the unknown and of course a fear of getting there via air transportation all factor into the bigger condition known as a fear of flying, although the very fact that the latter is so multi-faceted makes the treatment with "one size fits all treatments" such a nonsensical and patently frustration approach for many a traveler.
Experiencing the fear of travel is a debilitating state of mind which spills over into other phobias, although in and of itself it is not recognized as such. Fortunately, the sufferer will take heart when learning that in many Cases this fear will diminish when the actual date of departure arrives and the excitement of the trip itself takes over the mind's focusing ability. Thus the person worried and sleepless for days at a time will suddenly experience euphoria and all anxiety will appear to have been shed. For this traveler, the fear of travel only affected the time leading up to the event and then dissipated, while for the white knuckled airline traveler it will carry over into the fear of flying disorder. The latter, of course, may be dealt with adequately and decisively with the help of an outstanding program that will attack the problem at the root - the subconscious.
Thus, do not despair when you find yourself in the throws of anxiety or panic but remember that others are suffering through the same problem and in the same way also were able to end their anxiety and even panic with a few simple choice treatments such as Hypnotherapy, NLP, and other traditional forms of Therapy.
